Way back when, let’s say 2003, the DVNT DJ persona began. Pretty much as a response to the sounds he was hearing in London clubs and the lack of decent music at his University city. Beginning with drum’n'bass/jungle and morphing into nuskool breaks.

During his time at Uni he ran his own night “Pickled” pushing the wide breakbeat sound to an ever eager audience. He held down residencies at Bar Ingo, The Attic, T-Dance, Greenpeace Lincoln, Eclectic Beats as well as being a regular at many of the big nights including Digital. In 2007 he debuted at his first festival: Hamswell.

In recent years he’s been a regular DJ at the fund-raising Oxjam gigs in Bristol, Brighton and Southhampton; a joint venture between Out of the Void and Brap FM. With occassional appearances at East London warehouses and large scale house parties, his darkfloor electronica sound is well received and always pushing it.

In late 2009, off the back of a 15 minute electro mega mix, DVNT was commissioned to produce the Data Terrorists mix for the UK label: Militant Science. Available exclusively from Junodownload.

In May 2007, DVNT started MANTIS Radio broadcasting on Brap FM (currently on SWU Radio). The last few years has seen DVNT develop the distinctive DJ sound best described as darkfloor electronica. DVNT’s sets combine elements of techno, electro, breaks, dubstep, glitch and ambient into a fresh and irresistable flow, with leanings towards the darker and deeper textures of electronic music. Characterised by rolling bass, edits, stepping beats, and a “big” sound.

Each MANTIS Radio show has featured guest showcases from established or up and coming producers. Previous guests have included Posthuman, Subeena, Jerome Hill, Mad EP, Hellfire Machina, Full Spektrum, Galaxian, Gunjack, Molez, Paul Blackford and Si Begg. He’s had guest mixes aired on NSB Radio, Techno FM, Resonance FM, and Pointblank FM.

All the radio shows are archived and podcasted, he’s always pushing unsigned talent, as well as supporting netaudio labels and producers.
