Agree with you on all points there. I’m no Potter-ite either. I worked in a bookshop during it’s rise to being the mega bestseller it turned out to be. That was a fun time.

I don’t think it’s just Potter to be honest. I know that’s the market leader, but the fact it’s about monsters and fairytales, and not just wizards, means it’s accessible to anyone who has read a scary bed time story.

I think it owes more to Roald Dahl, Terry Pratchett and Worst Witch really, a lot wider than the Potter thing.

Maybe it’s because I’m not a Potter-ite, and it’d be daft to think that it’s got nothing to do with some of its success, but if you look at the resurgence of vampire, werewolf and general fantastical horror stories, books, films and tv shows, you see a general trend to the ‘classic’ horror years.

Teenagers feel ‘other’, so that’s one reason, but if you look at horror and sci-fi, they’ve traditionally been reactive to the fears of the time. It used to be that aliens or monsters would come from some other place, now the ‘theme’ seems to be that ‘they’ live among ‘us’, and we can be changed by them at any point. I think that says as much about the zeitgeist than pretty much anything else really.

I love it. I saw this in Creative Review last week I think. Was meaning to post it myself eventually.

Wish I was 10. This would be awesome. The attention to detail is, well, inspiring.

Thanks for the clarification. Pretty sure Scanone will have seen it, he and Combat Recordings, of which he is signed, are pretty with it when it comes to video and AV. I’ll drop a line to the label owner in any event.

Hi i just Thx for this post ,i just want too add some precision .
I did this video for a friend in London , he gave me Scanone tracks to do a video for his event . I didn’ t know scanone before , but still i like the track and i think it’s a perfect track for audiovisual works since it’s a very cinematographic mood. So it’s more me who designed the visual for the track , and we didn’ t really work together , i even don’t know if Scanone saw it , since the guy who ask me to do the video was somehow overbusy and even didn’ t use it for the event …
